I like to operate under the KISS principle … Keep It Simple Stupid! What could be more simple than flattened bread and a little peanut butter? There are days when you don’t feel like making something big for lunch or you don’t feel like cooking at all. Hell, that’s nearly every day at my house! I suppose this does involve a bit of prep work with cutting off the crust and smooshing (technical term) the bread with a rolling pin but for some reason Ben reallys digs these so I’ll keep on makin’ em!
When I was a kid, I thought this was fancy eating! Almost as fancy as when you make a peanut butter sandwich from one piece of bread and fold it over. What do you guys call that? I just had a little giggle because my Mom calls them “benders” and every time I think of it I can’t help but think of a raging, drunken party … with peanut butter sandwiches. Aaaaaanyway!
He’s totally into these things. I don’t know if it’s the delicious peanut butter or the fact that they are the perfect fit for his little hands. Maybe it’s the honey I drizzle in there now that he’s over a year old and can have some. I don’t know what the secret is, but he scarfs them down in seconds without leaving a crumb and I think all mom’s of toddlers know how sweet that is!
