Do vitamins really make a difference?
I get this question quite often when I talk to people about my health and what I do for work. It seems that vitamins have gotten a bit of a bad reputation over the years, and I truly do understand the skepticism. I had the same attitude myself because I had never really found anything that worked for me until now.
Anyone who has known me for quite some time knows of my less than stellar medical history. I have never been deathly ill, however I’ve never been the picture of health. I’ve always had stomach problems for as long as I can remember. I hold myself personally responsible for keeping Pepto Bismol in business. In my purse, there was always an adequate supply of my beloved Pepto, Gravol, Tums, and Imodium. Not to mention the Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, and prescription migraine medication I also had to carry. I was a walking pharmacy.
In 2005 I finally received a diagnosis of Acid Pepsin Disease so at least it had a name. My doctor tried various prescription medications to help but nothing ever had much of an impact. I also suffered from frequent migraine headaches and you migraine sufferers out there know the impact those can have. I was prescribed a drug for those as well which really helped each episode but left me feeling high as a kite. Not an ideal situation, especially when I had to work and drive myself around.
Fast forward to today. I haven’t taken Pepto Bismol since October 2013. As of right now when I’m writing this, that’s 7 months ago. 7 months!! I was taking it DAILY! I also haven’t taken any Gravol, Tums or Imodium! These were regular things for me. I would typically restock my purse pharmacy on a monthly basis to make sure I was never without. I have also not suffered from a single migraine headache. Not one!!
I’m sure by now you want to know what I did to turn things around. I started taking some amazing supplements and I changed the products I use to clean my house. I know this sounds like nothing more than a big plug for my business, but Shaklee really did change my life. There’s no other way to say it and I’m not going to hide what worked for me. It’s a sad truth that not all vitamins and supplements are created equal and when you’ve tried many duds, I know that it’s hard to believe any of them will work. Many of the brands that you’ll find on the shelf at a grocery store or pharmacy won’t even completely dissolve in your stomach so whatever vitamins are in there aren’t actually absorbed by your body. Of course they won’t work for you if they are not even being absorbed! You’re never going to see results or feel better that way.
So here’s what I take:
These 2 things together are a huge powerhouse of nutritional goodness for your body! They can be bought separately or as a pack for cost savings. If you’re just looking for a great multivitamin to try before investing in a whole supplement regime, Vita-Lea is a great place to start! There are different formulations for different needs so always be sure to choose the one that would be best for you and ask lots of questions if you are unsure.
Also, I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose your particular health concerns. I am simply letting you know what works for ME. If you have concerns about your health, please consult your doctor.
