As I’ve been having more success in my direct sales business, I’ve been paying a bit more attention to the tools I use that are really working for me and are helping me to grow my business in a simple way. I’m all about keeping it simple! You want to run your own business the way you want to, you don’t want your business running you. The following tools are things that help me automate, manage, and grow my business but don’t take a whole lot of time or effort on my part. Some of these tools will be useful for all different kinds of business, including your blog so they are not solely for direct sales.
You’re already on Facebook anyway, right? Might as well make it work for you and bring you some cash! I don’t post about my business on my personal page every single day of course, but if I’ve got a great deal going on I always want to let my friends and family know so they can take advantage of it! And just like I have a Facebook fan page for my blog, I also have one for my business! That way, those people who don’t want to miss out on anything that I’m offering can follow along and strangers can find me too. While I’m on many different social media platforms, Facebook seems to be the one that brings me the most for my business with very little effort. I know that many direct sales companies have seen a lot of success on Instagram as well so I’m there too.
A picture is worth a thousand words. A great image is far more eye catching than just a bunch of text and PicMonkey is a very easy way to quickly create graphics for your business. It’s so simple that anyone can use it and it’s free! I do pay for the upgraded version simply because I like having more options but even then, it’s so cheap that I didn’t even think twice about it! I use PicMonkey for all of my graphics here on my blog, and for my business.
A Functional Planner
Organization is huge for your business and keeping it running smoothly. In the beginning, you may not have a lot to keep track of but as more and more customers start coming your way, having a system and one place for all of your appointments or calls is so important! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, but having my planner has kept me on track and gives me something portable and functional to keep track of everything with. I currently use the Happy Planner by MAMBI but there are many similar ones out there like the Erin Condren Life Planner or something more classic and simple like Day-Timer Planners or Planner Love Products at FranklinPlanner.com . It allows me to keep track of dates, as well as To Do lists, customer and order information, and anything else I might need. Unlike a planner I could buy in the store, it is completely customizable. Even a simple binder would work!
An Awesome Team
Being part of an MLM or direct sales company or being in business completely on your own is hard. But it’s even harder if you’re truly on your own. Having a great group of supportive and motivating people has been so beneficial to me and my team gives me that extra boost of confidence when I need it. Even if it’s just your spouse telling you that you can do it, or a group of other distributors who cheer each other on, having a tribe who back you is such an asset. Sharing tips, stories and successes is a great way to motivate and encourage everyone. There’s a reason that my team is one of the fastest growing teams in our company. We work together, we help and support each other, we share what’s working for us and what’s not. If you’re looking for a direct sales company to work with, try to find a supportive team to join because your chance for success will be much higher than working alone. A quick search of the company you’re interested in on Facebook can usually help you find at least a few groups of distributors who can help.
You’re going to hear “no”. A lot. And that’s ok! Not everyone is going to want what you have to offer, no matter what that is. What you don’t want to do is get discouraged by all of the “no’s” so that you quit before ever hearing a “YES!” I’m just going to lay it out there, you’ll have way more people turn you down than people who take you up on whatever it is that you’re offering and you need to understand that it’s totally normal. In my business, it’s just my job to share. It’s up to them to decide and I can’t take it personally. A waitress doesn’t take it personally when you say no to the cup of coffee she offers, she just continues on and keeps offering coffee to people. No every product, business opportunity, or service is the right fit for everyone but it WILL be a fit for SOMEONE. Keep your head up and keep going until you find them!
BONUS: A Blog
Maybe it’s just because I’m a blogger, but I love that my blog and my business can work to compliment each other. I can promote my business with my blog, and I can promote my blog with my business. What I never want to do is change my blog so it’s all about my business because I value my readers and don’t want to turn them away. I continue writing about what I normally would and sprinkle in business things where appropriate. It’s a great way to get the word out there but it shouldn’t become the only way.
So tell me, what tools do you use that help you in YOUR direct sales business?
