Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming! And with it comes one of my favorite traditions, the advent calendar. We have a few other traditions that I’ve talked about here and here but I love the small daily celebrations of the holiday season. While the old traditional chocolate calendars are just fine, I really enjoy something a little more personal for each member of the family. I find it so much fun to get something that each person really enjoys. I’m not going to lie, I’d love to have a few if these just for me but don’t worry, I did choose only one!
And here it is! I am a big tea drinker so this is the perfect advent calendar for me. I’m very fond of the David’s Tea brand and when I realized last year that they have a 24 Days of Tea Advent Calendar, you know I was all over that! It’s so much fun to have a new tea to try each day and I’ve found a few new favorites from it. I try really hard not to cheat and peek at the list ahead of time so that each day truly is a surprise. This one has given me a lot of joy and I can’t wait to start a new one in December!
Another awesome calendar that I’m very tempted by is this bath bomb advent calendar which is a really great idea for that lady in your life who loves a good soak in the tub. It makes me really wish that my house had more than just our tiny 1950’s bathtub! This one is fun too because you get to open a whole new present each day rather than just opening a little window or box. So fun!
As much as I’d love to be the center of the universe, unfortunately I am not so I have to find awesome advent calendars for other members of my family too. My oldest son is obsessed with Lego and I use obsessed as a bit of an understatement. This year I was so excited to find the perfect advent calendar for him and I can’t wait to surprise him with it! He is going to lose his mind!
He loves the whole Lego City collection so this Lego City Advent calendar is going to make him so happy. They have a bunch of other options too which is awesome so if you have someone who loves Lego Star Wars or Lego Friends, they’ve got you covered too. I also really like that the Lego calendars are actually things that your child (or you) can keep and continue to enjoy long after Christmas is over. It’s not a one time use so it makes me feel better about spending a little bit more because I know how much my son loves his Lego and how much he plays with his growing collection – every damn day.
If you’re a mom of 2 boys like I am, you’re probably familiar with the Thomas phase that we’re in with our youngest son. Oh Thomas. Someday I won’t have train track all over my house. Until then, I’m glad for him to him to play with them as long as he’s happy. This year, I picked up the Thomas & Friends Minis Advent Calendar which I know he’ll love! Much like the Lego calendars, I’m glad that he’ll have a small toy to keep. There are so many other choices like Paw Patrol, Hot Wheels, Crayola, Barbie or Play-Doh so I am pretty confident that you’ll be able to find an advent calendar that’s right up your little one’s alley. I won’t lie, I had a lot of fun, and a lot of trouble, choosing the ones I wanted for my boys this year. So many to pick from!
Nick isn’t really into advent calendars so he usually doesn’t get one but if I were to stumble across the perfect one for him I wouldn’t be able to resist. I think this Fly Fishing Advent Calendar is really cool if you have someone who loves to fly fish. Or how about the beloved furry members of the family? Your fur babies don’t have to be left out of the festivities and can have their own advent calendar too! I totally laughed at this one!
I honestly could have spent all day on the internet looking at these things! I am so excited for Christmas this year because my kids are at such a fun age and I think that giving them something to be excited about each day will create that festive spirit in all of us. Are all these elaborate advent calendars necessary, absolutely not. Are they fun? You bet your ass they are!
