Well hello again, friends! I can hardly believe that it’s almost Christmas but here we are. When I saw that Britt from Alternatively Speaking was doing a 12 Days of Blogmas challenge, I was all over that like a dirty shirt. Is that how the saying goes? Whatever. Anyway, I wanted to participate for sure because these challenges are always so much fun! Plus it’s a great way to meet new bloggy friends.
Today’s prompt is “A Tour of Your Christmas Tree” so lets get right to it!
We have 2 Christmas trees in our house. First, I’ll show you a photo of our tree upstairs. It’s only purpose in life is to look pretty. We don’t put our gifts under this tree or decorate it together, it’s purely for show. I went with red, gold and a touch of silver this year and I think it turned out great!
Downstairs we have our family Christmas tree! We decorate this tree together and this is the one that we put all of our gifts under. It doesn’t have a particular theme, it’s more of a mish mash of all of our special Christmas ornaments from over the years and that’s why I love it so much. I always have so much fun decorating this one because every ornament has a memory attached to it.
Here are a few of my favorites!
This tree is right in the middle of our basement family room, which is basically a giant play room for the kids. It’s comfortable and we spend a lot of time in this room so it’s a very happy space in our home. And since the ornaments on this Christmas tree are each special to us, sitting on the couch with a cup of tea and looking at it gives me the warm fuzzies.
It’s funny how life changes and evolves over the years. A few years back, I shared our Christmas tree from Ben’s first Christmas in 2013 and just in those few short years things have changed so much. That was probably my most difficult Christmas because I was in the midst of postpartum depression although I didn’t know it and it was the first Christmas without my Grampy. Although we have 2 kids now and things are much more hectic, my stress levels are much lower and I am able to take things in stride in a way that I couldn’t back then. It’s nice to look back and reflect on how far you’ve come!
Thanks for stopping in to check out my tree! You should definitely check out the other bloggers participating by searching the hashtag #12DaysBlogmas or by visiting the list of blogs.
