How do I feel? Awesome.
It was nice to wake up on a work day, slide into my clothes without any trouble and enjoy a comfortable day of training at work. My experience with the 5 day fall detox was very positive. It was mainly a combination of Shaklee Smoothies, Shaklee supplements, water, protein and vegetables. I’m not a salad kinda guy (I’m a picky eater with texture issues) so all my salads were blended using a nutribullet. I also didn’t take any real advantage of the “unlimited veggies” part of the detox, but I didn’t find myself hungry at all. The Shaklee smoothies are surprisingly filling.
One of the best things about the detox was the support group that was set up on Facebook. Even though all the people who participated don’t live around me, you felt like they were right there with you, going through the same thing as you. You had an opportunity to express how you were feeling on any given day and got the support you needed to stay on track.
I’d say, over the 5 days I did this, the one thing most people found very difficult was the lack of caffeine. It seems like most people went cold turkey, dropping the coffee the day the detox started and really paid the price. A lot of headaches/migraines were common for the first few days. Luckily for me, I had made the switch to green tea a couple weeks prior, so I wasn’t punished with headaches. So, to anyone who is reading this and knows they will be doing the detox in the future, do yourself a favor, slow down on the tea/coffee and drink more water. That way, your transition into no caffeine will be easier!
I found that the detox was a way for me to focus on something I often neglect: my own health. I found that, as the last day approached, my willpower had increased and my desire to get back to healthy was high. I mean, on the last day, I made Kim chocolate chip cookies, pulled pork, homemade waffles with homemade vanilla syrup and bought her pad thai from one of her favorite places and I didn’t even have a single bite. That’s right; I didn’t even lick the spoon fully of cookie dough! How crazy is that!
I fully plan on participating in the next detox in December and look forward to some more great results. So, if you’re looking for a positive change in your life, here it is! Take 5 days and make a real change! You’ll be happy you did J
