I am so happy to have had the opportunity to meet and work with ReNewed Chick this month which is why I’m excited to have her guest posting here today! She really is such an intelligent, kind and strong woman and I think we can all learn a lot from her positive attitude and experiences. It has been an honour to have her on my sidebar and I know she’d love it if you would stop by her blog and say hello!
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream…”
– C.S. Lewis
Have you ever had a dream that pulled at you constantly? I mean, even woke you up from your slumber on occasion? You know, the one that refuses to go away and demands your undivided attention. Well, that is what happened to me. I am not someone who has always known what I was supposed to be doing with my life (and time) but it’s funny how you sometimes get answers when you’re not even looking for them. It’s also mind-boggling to me how, many times, we find our purpose in life through our past experiences. Brings the old saying of, “What doesn’t hurt you only makes you stronger”, into an entirely new light.
Many of us are unsure of our dreams. Some of us never realize our dreams. Then there are those of us that can clearly tell others our dream but we don’t know where, or how, to start working toward that dream and, thus, we become content with living a life that does not live up to our expectations and we never get to live the life that we always thought we would. Does this sound familiar?
If it doesn’t, that is great. However, if it does, please know that you are not alone. So many times we just need a helping hand (or that chance meeting) to get our dream “off the ground” and to rekindle that old flame. That is okay, really it is. It took me getting married, having kids, getting divorced and being forced to work a full-time job, to even realize my dream and return to my first true love of writing and speaking into peoples’ lives. Although, I have not taken the plunge to stop working outside of my home, because I do still need a viable way to provide for my family, I have begun to take some major steps toward making my dream of being a best- selling author and full-time speaker a reality. As I get older, I’d like to think I am getting a little wiser too (even if my 10-year old doesn’t think so) and I have finally come to realize that life is simply too short to not take risks and not try to do what I love.
With all that being said, I want to encourage you to do something that you may or may not have ever done before. Are you ready? Take a moment and just… be… silent. No T.V., no radio, no kids in the background screaming for your attention – if you have to shut the door or wait for the kiddos to go to bed, do that – but take a moment, each day, to just be quiet and listen to your spirit. When you begin to take this few seconds or few minutes to quiet your mind, and your world, it may just surprise you how much clearer your mind becomes and how much more focused you become, even how differently, perhaps more positively, you react to things throughout your life.
I would encourage you to never stop dreaming, find your passion and live your life’s purpose. No matter how young or old, your employment status, financial status, ethnicity, etc. someone, in this world, needs to hear your story and needs for you to fulfill the call that is on your life. Each of us are uniquely gifted to do things, in this life, that no one else can. That is what’s so great about humanity! We can all live very different, yet very connected lives, if we choose to. So, the question is… Will you join me in answering the call?
Be sure to connect with me on Twitter, Facebook and many other social media outlets and don’t forget to follow my blog at www.renewedchick.wordpress.com. I look forward to seeing you there! Happy dreaming! 🙂
