I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it here before, but I am a subscriber and huge fan of National Geographic magazine!
I have very fond childhood memories that involve me laying on the living room floor, surrounded by my mother’s National Geographic magazines and pouring over the beautiful pictures inside. I don’t think I even read the articles at the time, I just remember being so captivated by the beautiful photography of places and people from all corners of the earth. I would see images of kids my age in remote African villages and try to imagine how different our lives were and what we might have in common. All the way through my school years, whenever I had to do some sort of research project, I’d scour the many issues of the magazines to find something I’d like to write about and I’d go from there. My mom would let me bring the magazine to school to show the pictures or cut them out to use in my project. I know that my own magazines will be a great resource for Ben some day.
You already know that I’m a huge geek and love to watch documentaries for fun and my own National Geographic issues are kind of like a collection of handheld documentaries for me! I don’t know what it is, but I loved being in school and I still love learning about anything and everything that I can. I get so excited when I see that little package in my mail box every month!
Here are a few of my favorite photos from April’s issue.
I should probably mention that I am in no way affiliated with National Geographic and am not being paid to write this post. I wrote it because I received my copy of the magazine in the mail today and it reminded me of how much I enjoy receiving it so I thought I’d share!
