I made these the other day and completely forgot to share! There’s not really much of a recipe since I used pre-made croissant (for the english speakers – crescent rolls) dough but I am on the lookout for a homemade version. These were quick, easy, and a huge crowd pleaser so I’ll be making them again many times over!
Assembly was simple. Roll out the dough and separate along perforated lines, spread a layer of peanut butter, drop a spoonful of jam, roll. Seriously, that’s it. I used 3 different jams (all homemade by my mother-in-law); strawberry, blueberry and raspberry/blueberry. The raspberry/blueberry one was by far the best because it was thicker and didn’t run out the edges. Pro tip: begin rolling from the short edge, finishing with the point.
Am I the only one that peeks at my baking? Apparently you’re not supposed to do that because it lets heat out of the oven but I don’t see Gordon Ramsay here yelling at me to smarted the f*ck up so I’ll do what I wish!
I followed the baking directions on the tube and baked for 8 minutes which was perfect! As an added bonus, they cool relatively quickly so you don’t have to wait very long to enjoy them! The only problem is that 1 tube only makes 8 croissants which clearly isn’t enough, especially since I’m pregnant. Next time I will have to triple this so that that everyone else will be able to have more than one.
Do you have a recipe for homemade croissant dough that you want to share? What other fillings would you add to these?
