You know, it’s really easy to get caught up in all the busyness and forget to take it easy once in a while. There’s so much you want to get done every day but so little time to fit it all in. People to Facebook stalk, blogs to read, deadlines to meet, dinners to make, children to bathe, wine to drink. It’s no wonder mom’s can burn themselves out so quickly!
For a long time after Ben was born, I struggled to fit everything into my day that I wanted to do. Because I thought that I could do it all! In reality, it’s ok if I don’t get everything done all in one day. As long as the 2 of us make it through alive until Nick gets home from work, it’s a success! Some days I feel like Superwoman and we cram so much into the day that I wonder why I ever doubt myself. Most days aren’t like that though! I will admit, I’m getting better!
A while back I wrote about a book that I really enjoyed reading called The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I even go so far as to recommend you purchase it over to the left in my Amazon widget. I liked it that much! I’ve been going back every so often and reading sections of it again as a little reminder. I’m glad I did because I realized that I am running myself ragged and there’s something I can do about it. So I decided that I’m going to unplug myself from the computer and my phone every night by 10pm and take the time to relax. I can read a book with a cup of tea, enjoy a
bottle glass of wine and have a hot bath, or just go right to bed! Since implementing this rule for myself, I’ve actually started to feel more rested, more calm and more relaxed. Not only that night but the next day too!
It’s just something small that you can do for yourself for an hour or so each night that can make a big difference in how you feel! Do you have any tricks that you use to recharge your batteries?
