As I’m sure everyone has heard by now, Target is closing all of it’s Canadian stores over the coming months. The first round of store closures happened last week and the store that I go to is closing this week. I’m heartbroken! I may be exaggerating slightly, but I think you feel me.
Like many people, I don’t necessarily go to Target with a list of things that I need to buy. I go to Target to grab a latte at Starbucks, roam the aisles, and get away from the kids. Is that so much to ask? Is this a phenomenon only enjoyed by stay at home moms? It’s kind of like my happy place! Just imagine my horror on the day that I found out that it would be closing. My Facebook feed was blowing up with other women who were just as sad to hear the awful news as I was.
It’s not like we even had Target here for that long. I don’t even know that my local store has been here for 2 years so clearly I can live without it. It’s just that it became “my place” to just go, wander and not have a small person grabbing at my yoga pants and constantly asking for a snack. I could go there and casually browse and spend far too long at the Target Dollar Spot and put way more things in my basket than I actually needed.
So now I need a new “spot”. I need a new store to go browse, be alone with my thoughts, and take a breather from the every day noise in my house. There are a few contenders that I have in mind like Michael’s (craft store), Fabricville (fabric store) or Value Village (thrift store) but what I really want to know is … do you have a place that you like to go just to get away for an hour?
I’d love to hear about your “spot” … or am I the only one that does this?
