I’ve decided to participate in this month’s Carnival of Natural Mothering! It’s a really fun way to meet other like-minded mom’s and talk about some of the things that are important to us. This month, we’re talking about what we wish we knew when we got that first positive pregnancy test.
Funny how your whole world can change in an instant, isn’t it? This is just the very beginning of all of the beautiful and challenging changes that will happen over the coming months! Your body will morph and change into something that you don’t recognize. Isn’t it amazing that it is expanding, nourishing and giving life to that little being inside? Yes, it’ll never be the same again but that’s ok because your whole outlook on life will never be the same either so just go with it! Your relationship will change too. Watching Nick’s concern during every movement, then his love and excitement for his son will deepen your feelings of love and respect for him. You might even admit it to him sometimes!
You worry about every little detail of what’s to come. Don’t. The more time you spend worrying, the less time you spend living in each amazing moment with Ben. The dishes can wait, the laundry can wait (except the diapers, you really don’t want those sitting too long!), even showering can wait! Slow down, cuddle, read, play, and just marvel at the precious boy you’ve made. The most important thing to stop worrying about is the opinion of others. Everyone has their way of doing things, let them.
The most important thing to know is that you’re doing just fine. Your intuition is spot on and when you have a question, you search for the answer and make an informed decision. So just relax and enjoy the ride!!
