Ever since I became a stay at home mom I have been thinking of ways that I can bring in money to help out my family. My husband’s salary is good and it completely takes care of us but sometimes it’s nice to be able to afford all of the extras too. I often hear the remark from people that I am so lucky to be able to stay home with Ben, but the truth is, luck has very little to do with it. We knew the value of education, we worked hard before he was born, we put away and saved and we continue to do so. We don’t live above our means and we make sacrifices because this is what is important for us.
I started blogging many years ago for fun. I love the creative and emotional outlet and all of the wonderful people that you wouldn’t otherwise meet. I had no idea at the time that you could actually make money doing this and that I would eventually graduate from stay at home mom to work at home mom. As I’ve gotten further and further along, opportunities started to present themselves and sometimes I can do quite well, be it receiving payment for my writing or free products. If you’ve got an offer, I’m always willing to discuss it!
Through my blog business, I met Claire and my Shaklee business was born. It’s amazing how the blogging world can bring like minded people together! Through Shaklee, not only can I make a nice income for myself, but I can also help my family and other families live healthier lives. I love the products and believe in the company, so sharing it is easy for me.
These 2 things allow me to contribute to our family income and have a little bit of extra play money. I love seeing the detailed financial posts that many other bloggers (like Michelle at Making Sense of Cents) do so and they inspired me to do this myself. Beginning with September’s income, I will share my monthly activity and earnings in each of my areas of business. This is in part to help others see that being a work at home mom is possible and in part to motivate myself to work harder on both fronts. It’s a win win!
Let me know what you think!
